All visitors to New Zealand must have a valid passport for at least three months beyond the intended stay in New Zealand.

Citizens of some countries must obtain a Visitor's Visa. Visa information and the visa application form are available on www.immigration.govt.nz.

If you require a Visitor's Visa, please allow at least 5-6 weeks for processing.

If you are a citizen of a country which has a visa waiver agreement with New Zealand, you do not need to apply for a visa to visit New Zealand but you must:

  • Hold a valid ticket from New Zealand to a country where you have the right of entry
  • Have sufficient money to support yourself during your stay in New Zealand
  • Hold a passport valid for 3 months beyond the date you intend leaving New Zealand
  • Remain in New Zealand only for the time granted on your arrival

If your travel itinerary includes a transit stop in Australia you may need an Australian Transit Visa. Details about this and how to apply can be found at www.immi.gov.au. Failure to obtain this visa in advance of your travel may result in you being unable to board your aircraft.

NZ Border Process

Northland is situated approximately 3 hours drive north of Auckland. You travel by State Highway 1 and we drive on the left hand side of the road in New Zealand.


There will be summit provided coach transport from Auckland to Northland on Sunday 15th April 2018. Please note in your registration form if you wish to use this option.


Another option you have is to fly from Auckland to Kerikeri and then make the 20 minute drive to the Copthorne Hotel and Resort. To view flight options, click here. 

Auckland Airport to Auckland City Centre.

A taxi from Auckland International Airport to Auckland City Centre is around $75 one way. You can pre-book your Co-op Taxi on their website www.cooptaxi.co.nz. This may be a good option if you wish to use a public transport option to Northland.

Shared shuttles are available for approximately $35 per person from Auckland International Airport to Auckland City Centre, please visit www.supershuttle.co.nz

SkyBus is a frequent bus service from Auckland International Airport to Auckland City Centre. A one way ticket is NZ$16 per person. For more information, please visit www.skybus.co.nz.

Complimentary Coach Transport
The summit will provide complementary coaches from Auckland Airport to the Copthorne Bay of Islands. There will be a coach transfer on the afternoon of Saturday April 14th and a transfer on the morning of Sunday April 15th. There will be a return coach from the Copthorne Bay of Islands to Auckland Airport. This will be on the afternoon of Wednesday April 18th.

The World Indigenous Tourism Summit will be held in English. Please note on your registration form which language(s) you require.

The currency used is the New Zealand dollar. Banking hours are usually 0900 -1600hrs, Monday to Friday. Automatic Teller Machines are well spread throughout New Zealand. International credit cards are accepted throughout the country banks, most hotels and city stores.

Goods and Services in New Zealand are subject to a 15% tax (GST). This tax is usually included in the price and if not, it is clearly stated. This tax cannot be claimed back by visitors, when leaving the country.

It is strongly recommended that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover the duration of your visit to New Zealand and to protect against cancellation charges, loss or damage to your luggage and personal effects, loss of cash and medical expenses.

New Zealand uses a 240 volt 50 cycle system with 3 pin flat plugs.

New Zealand has a national biosecurity system that is considered one of the most robust in the world. Please refer to www.biosecurity.govt.nz for more information.

No vaccinations are required to enter New Zealand.

New Zealand's climates range significantly in temperature throughout the country. 


In April, New Zealand is in the middle of Autumn. The average temperature at this time of year in Northland is 21 degree Celsius (69 degree Fahrenheit) highs and 11 degree Celsius (51 degree Fahrenheit) lows. Glorious days out in the bay are still to be enjoyed, although evening approaches a little earlier and can get a little cooler. 


Dress for all sessions at the summit is smart casual.

Name badges will be given to all delegates on registration. We ask that you wear your badge at all times, including social functions.
